Dr. Rakesh Patel is a board-certified oculofacial plastic surgeon. As an oculofacial specialist, his focus is rejuvenation of the eyes which includes eyelids and eyebrows. He prides himself on achieving youthful, elegant results without looking too pulled, tight, or just unnatural. He also performs functional surgeries of the tear duct and eye socket. Most importantly, he goes to great lengths to ensure any recommended procedure does not compromise the health of your eyes.

Our practice specializes in cosmetic and reconstructive eyelid surgery as well as tear duct and orbital surgery. Your eyes are one of the first features that people notice. At Charleston Oculofacial Plastic Surgery, our goal is to help you achieve a natural, refreshed aesthetic taking years off your appearance without looking overdone. In addition to cosmetic treatments, we also treat various functional problems of the eyelids, tear ducts, and orbit.

Dr. Patel is an awesome surgeon that goes over and beyond for his patients. I was originally supposed. to have a skin graft under my lower eyelid. He knew I wouldn’t be satisfied with the appearance and he explained everything to me so he tried something totally different during surgery. I’m definitely glad he was able to correct my lower lid. I just had surgery on my upper lid for a scar revision and everything looks nice. It’s hard coming across a doctor that’s willing to make you satisfied and correct the issue vs just correcting the issue. I can’t thank Patel enough for correcting my issues.

Dr. Patel gets my highest recommendation for reconstructive surgery on my lower eyelid, which had 60% of my lower eyelid, including a nickel sized piece of skin, removed underneath the eye, due to cancer. Out of Town Patients

Dr. Patel has patients that travel throughout South Carolina and sometimes beyond. An in-person consultation is best as it allows for one to physically examine the patient. However, for patients that are not within a driving distance and are interested in cosmetic procedures, you may have a virtual consultation.  We ask the patient to email photos and a short description of your concerns to hello@charlestonoculofacial.com. 

Dr. Patel will review the photos and if he is able to help you, we will schedule a virtual consultation for you to discuss your treatment options. If you elect to proceed with treatment with Dr. Patel, he would see you one day prior to your surgery date and anywhere from 6-10 days after your surgery date. Thereafter, he will make every attempt to have your subsequent follow-ups to be virtual to minimize your travel. If you elect to stay overnight, our office can recommend hotels.
